FAQ
In your browser's IndexedDB — encrypted, local, never synced. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly export a backup.
Your data will be deleted. Export an encrypted .prism backup first. You can restore it on any device with the export password.
There is no recovery mechanism — by design. If you lose your password and have no backup, the data is unrecoverable. That is the privacy guarantee.
You bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key. Prism sends only category-level summaries — not merchant names, exact amounts, or dates. Your raw transactions never leave your device.
CSV and PDF imports work for Chase, Apple Card, Discover, Citi, Bilt, Robinhood Gold, Wells Fargo, Amex, Bank of America, Capital One, Schwab, Wealthfront, and KeyPoint CU. You can also upload a custom JSON rule for any institution.
Prism is a web app — open it in any modern browser. Nothing to install. It works offline after the first load since all logic runs client-side.
I built Prism after Mint sold my data to Intuit — then shut down entirely. Every alternative wanted an account, cloud sync, and a subscription. I wanted a tool that was genuinely private, not just policy-private. So I built one where the server literally can't read your data, because there is no server.
